Welcome to the Nanyang Arts Festival 2009, a two-month extravaganza by the NTU Cultural Activities Club that celebrates the artistic talent and triumphs of NTU. Now into its 7th year, this annual festival has been instrumental in showcasing our burgeoning cultural landscape. Themed “Essence”, our very own students and faculties are naturally the stars of this year’s festival. Over the past year, NTU has garnered numerous achievements on both local and international stages. Some notable accomplishments include a gold medal won by the NTU CAC Choir at the 36th Festival of Songs 2008 in Olomouc, Czech Republic, as well as the prestigious UOB Painting of the Year Award by Joel Yuen from the NTU School of Art, Design and Media (ADM). This year’s festival features an extensive line-up of more than 20 performances and workshops by the various performing arts and cultural groups in NTU. In addition, the festival committee and participants have worked hard to stage a myriad of free performances and exhibitions all around campus, effectively bringing the arts to one and all. So, come celebrate the arts with us at the 7th Nanyang Arts Festival!

ABOUT
About NAF
Nanyang Arts Festival is a three-month celebration encompassing a colorful blend of performances ranging from music and arts to dance. Nanyang Arts Festival aims to infuse Arts into the culture of NTU, bringing performances to students and increasing the appreciation of the Arts on our campus. In addition, we seek to make the Festival a premier event in Singapore, as an integral part of our vibrant local art scene. NAF History
The precedent of the Festival was conceived six years ago, in a bid to promote the appreciation of the Arts in NTU. The NTU Cultural Festival started as a full week of activities and cultural performances to excite the senses.
Eventually, the success of the Festival led to the restructuring and the subsequent renaming to become the Nanyang Arts Festival it is today. The Festival was extended to stretch across three months to accomodate the increasing variety and number of performing arts in NTU. NAF Logo
The logo is a stylised combination of the letters ‘n’, ‘a’ and ‘f’, which is the abbreviation of the words Nanyang Arts Festival.
Drawn in a calligraphic stroke coupled with the fluid, free-flowing motion, it signifies the art and dance of the festival and of the member clubs. Music is represented through the curvature of the ‘a’ and the ‘f’ letters, which mimics that of the G-clef musical symbol. The two colours of the logo symbolises harmony, with the yellow gold symbolising the rich culture and heritage of the member clubs, and the red representing the vibrancy and dynamism of the festival. The bold serif font type portrays a contemporary feel, signifying the positive direction the festival is headed towards, yet maintaining the classic and timeless look, synonymous with the heritage of arts. NAF Vision
“To develop NTU’s potential as a cultural hub and establish Nanyang Arts Festival as a premiere event that will place NTU on the cultural and arts calendar of Singapore.”
